I was born and raised in Massachusetts before moving – fat, cranky and 8 1/2 months pregnant with our first child – to Nebraska in 2001.
With its periodic tornado sirens, open landscape and grasshoppers the size of small chickens, Nebraska took a little getting used to, but I've grown to love it. Front porch chats with the neighbors, the billowing grasses, the lack of traffic jams...it's all made me realize I'm much better suited to the Great Plains than I am to urban East Coast living. Another perk: I found God again in Nebraska after a 20-year hiatus (you can read more about my faith journey here).
My husband Brad, an English professor, and I are raising two boys – contemplative Noah and red-haired Rowan.
When I'm not packing school lunches and laboring over fourth-grade math homework, I work as a freelance writer. I write a monthly column for the Lincoln Journal Star and am a frequent contributor to The High Calling. I also write memoir and personal narrative and am represented by agent Rachelle Gardner at Books & Such Literary Agency.
Thanks for reading my musings on faith in the everyday. Don't hesitate to contact me – I'd love to get to know you better.
