This is Pedro - isn't he cute?!
And while this does not mean I'll be traveling to far-flung places with the likes of Ann or Lisa-Jo or Boo Mama, it does mean that at least once each month I'll get an assignment from Compassion to write about a particular topic, a topic that relates to people in need.
I LOVE this - you know how much I love Compassion, right? We sponsor Pedro, a little guy from Bolivia - I practically cartwheel up the driveway from the mailbox every time we receive a letter from him or his mom.
September is Blog Month at Compassion, which means between today and September 30, their goal is to get 3,108 more children sponsored worldwide. I have no idea how they came up with that number, but it's huge, and I want to help! If you've ever considered the possiblity of sponsoring a child through Compassion, now might be the perfect time to make the leap.
We pay $38/month to sponsor Pedro -- not a lot of money, when you think about it. I spend at least twice that much just inhaling as I walk past Target.
The $38 is automatically charged to my credit card, and when I scan my monthly Visa bill, this is what I see:
You get the picture.
Sponsoring Pedro through Compassion is the one consistent thing we do to support someone else in need, amid the dozens and dozens of toys, t-shirts and shoes, books, burgers and french fries, gasoline, Advil, printer cartridges and fish food we buy for ourselves every month.
So, please stayed tuned here during September - for Blog Month I'll be writing once a week on topics assigned to me by Compassion. And I suspect we both might learn a thing or two.
