I love that verse, too -- it makes me feel surrounded by God, in his all-encompassing love. That's why I chose it -- it gives me comfort.
I bought the wreath -- I think in an after-Christmas sale at Pier One last year. I have another one very similar to it that I hang on a window in my living room -- that one is authentic, from the 50s - I bought it at a second-hand shop.
I've been repeating this exact verse to myself for a couple of days now -- I only read it earlier this week as I was making my way through the psalms, and I wrote that verse in my prayer journal. I just love the image of Him walking both ahead and behind me -- it makes me feel encircled by his love and comfort.
What a powerful verse to cling to each time you step out your front door and head out into the world. (And, what a lovely, cheery, beautiful door to greet you each time you return!)
Welcome to my blog, "Graceful," where I write stories about finding and keeping faith in the everyday. I also write a monthly faith and spirituality column for the "Lincoln Journal Star" and am a contributing writer to The High Calling.
A native New Englander, I'm now living in Nebraska, where I discovered the great plains, grasshoppers the size of chickens and God.
I'm married to Brad, a man who reads "Moby Dick" for pleasure, and mom to contemplative Noah and rambunctious Rowan.
I'm also a part-time writer and fundraiser for Nebraska PBS/NPR and a member of Southwood Lutheran Church.
Thanks for reading my thoughts on living out faith in the everyday.
Such a blessing to read these words today. Thank you!
ahh, my favorite psalm. You gave me peace today reading this.
What a FUN front door. I'm so thankful God goes before and after me.
I love this scripture. I wrote a post once called "When God goes before you" based on this idea. Did you make that wreath?!
I love this verse.
Love the bell wreath on the door. I saw some neat bells yesterday - they would be perfect in a wreath.
If this is your door, I like you even better.
That is my door! :)
I didn't make the wreath myself...I'm not that talented. But it does make me happy whenever I pull into my driveway.

I thankful for exactly that, too, Shanda.

Thanks for stopping by today, Christie!
Does it jingle when you come and go?
What a powerful verse to cling to each time you step out your front door and head out into the world. (And, what a lovely, cheery, beautiful door to greet you each time you return!)
I do love that blue door of yours! (Let's go shopping together at Pier 1 one day.)
I too love your front door :) and this verse. So simple, and so important to cling to.
Wow, I too feel blessed and encouraged today by reading this powerful verse. ( I have written it in the front of my new diary).
How pretty. Love your door. Great word!
Merry Christmas!
So pretty!
Love the verse and the your door!!
I love the way different translations bring out new insights. This is so comforting and encouraging. Thanks! And your wreath makes me smile.
What a unique, beautiful wreath Michelle!
I want nothing more than to know He is before me and behind me. Such peace.
Such simple words . . . so full of truth.
Fondly,
Glenda
I like the reflections in front of the door that so beautifully illustrate the verse.
It does jingle a little!
It is a powerful verse and is especially comforting lately.
Thanks for stopping by, Stacy!
I felt the same way when I read that verse, too, Twiz - I wrote it into my prayer journal.
I like how you noticed the reflection of the tree branches in the door, Susan -- you have such a keen eye for detail!
