Weekend Meditation: Before and After

You go before me and follow me.
Psalm 139:5

Such a blessing to read these words today. Thank you!

Jean Wise  – (December 17, 2011 10:41 AM)

ahh, my favorite psalm.  You gave me peace today reading this.

Shanda Oakley  – (December 17, 2011 12:13 PM)

What a FUN front door.  I'm so thankful God goes before and after me.

Gaby  – (December 17, 2011 12:49 PM)

I love this scripture. I wrote a post once called "When God goes before you" based on this idea. Did you make that wreath?!

Janmacy  – (December 17, 2011 2:02 PM)

I love this verse.

Love the bell wreath on the door.  I saw some neat bells yesterday - they would be perfect in a wreath.

Amy Sullivan  – (December 17, 2011 7:25 PM)

If this is your door, I like you even better.

Michelle DeRusha  – (December 17, 2011 8:23 PM)

I didn't make the wreath myself...I'm not that talented. But it does make me happy whenever I pull into my driveway.

Michelle DeRusha  – (December 17, 2011 8:24 PM)

I love that verse, too -- it makes me feel surrounded by God, in his all-encompassing love. That's why I chose it -- it gives me comfort.

I bought the wreath -- I think in an after-Christmas sale at Pier One last year. I have another one very similar to it that I hang on a window in my living room -- that one is authentic, from the 50s - I bought it at a second-hand shop.

Michelle DeRusha  – (December 17, 2011 8:24 PM)

I thankful for exactly that, too, Shanda.

Michelle DeRusha  – (December 17, 2011 8:25 PM)

I've been repeating this exact verse to myself for a couple of days now -- I only read it earlier this week as I was making my way through the psalms, and I wrote that verse in my prayer journal. I just love the image of Him walking both ahead and behind me -- it makes me feel encircled by his love and comfort.

Thanks for stopping by today, Christie!

Does it jingle when you come and go?

Stacy  – (December 17, 2011 9:35 PM)

What a powerful verse to cling to each time you step out your front door and head out into the world.  (And, what a lovely, cheery, beautiful door to greet you each time you return!)

Deidra  – (December 17, 2011 10:31 PM)

I do love that blue door of yours! (Let's go shopping together at Pier 1 one day.)

Mollie  – (December 17, 2011 11:33 PM)

I too love your front door :) and this verse. So simple, and so important to cling to.

Twiz Conway –   – (December 18, 2011 3:30 AM)

Wow, I too feel blessed and encouraged today by reading this powerful verse. ( I have written it in the front of my new diary).

I love the way different translations bring out new insights. This is so comforting and encouraging. Thanks! And your wreath makes me smile.

What a unique, beautiful wreath Michelle!
I want nothing more than to know He is before me and behind me. Such peace.

Such simple words . . . so full of truth.

Fondly,
Glenda

I like the reflections in front of the door that so beautifully illustrate the verse.

Michelle DeRusha  – (December 19, 2011 12:16 PM)

It is a powerful verse and is especially comforting lately.

Thanks for stopping by, Stacy!

Michelle DeRusha  – (December 19, 2011 12:17 PM)

I felt the same way when I read that verse, too, Twiz - I wrote it into my prayer journal.

Michelle DeRusha  – (December 19, 2011 12:17 PM)

I like how you noticed the reflection of the tree branches in the door, Susan -- you have such a keen eye for detail!
