Proof of Spring

slow,
small moments
It’s the first sunny day in what seems like weeks, and even though winter’s chill still demands fleece, we head outdoors, cameras in hand, bent on uncovering evidence to prove that spring has indeed arrived.
Close to the ground on bended knee, Noah points to unfurling fiddleheads, while Rowan spots light pooled in a glass bottle like a cerulean sea.
The spirea blossoms sit like miniature carnation boutonnieres, poised for a royal wedding.
We push our noses close to delicate redbud blooms – Noah reminds me how they smell like peanut butter (yes, they do!). We laugh at the yellow tulip masquerading as a peony. We admire a crown of tiny maple leaves.
I suspect she was there all along. Spring indeed.
Where have you seen spring this week? Is she hiding shy or dressed in her best flamboyant frippery?
Linking up our jaunt through the neighborhood with Jennifer's Journeys series [and don't you love that alliteration?!].

What beautiful pictures, the sunshine and the certainty of spring. Thanks for sharing these - they make me smile.
Beautiful pictures! I love that your boys are so knowledgable about the natural world around them. (I wish I knew as much as they do)
Oh, I am so jealous, your spring is much further along than ours. It has been so cold, more like November than April around here all month. But today the sun is out and will hopefull warm thing up.
I love it when my kids notice things like the peanut butter smell! They are so observant!
I especially like the fiddleheads. Did you know that some kinds are edible? :)
I did! I've actually seen them in the produce section of the grocery store...but I've never dared try them!
Seriously...if it weren't for my kids, I'd pass 100 of God's gifts by every day -- they are constantly pointing out beauty in the everyday to me.
They teach me a lot about trees and plants...and bugs, of course!
Thank you, Andie. Happy weekend to you!
Beautiful pictures and words! Hope you're doing well. :)
Last fall I planted tulips - always wanted to, never did until then - and they are blooming!
Ooh la la, the color! All of the color on this page/post is so very thrilling. I may have to admit a favorite (the yellow bloom) but shhhh don't tell the other pictures. And how do you always know the exact words to go with your captures? That has always impressed me. Soak up the still chilled sunshine Michelle.
Happy Friday!
Love the colors in these photos. Our spring is quite late and we are just now getting some colors. Tomorrow will be 70 and I suspect everything will burst from their slumbers.
Blessings and prayers,
andrea
Your side of the Mighty Mo is just that much nicer with blooming flowers already! Easter weekend we were at our NE acreage and yes, the spring was showing, and Easter, a truly blessed spring day full of sunshine and giggles outside! After long winters, I think we appreciate it much more!
What a GOOD mommy you are. This is gorgeous - photos and words. And lovely tie-in to the big 'I-do" event this day. As always, thank you for a lovely read.
One of the disappointing things about living in Florida is that Spring is anticlimactic. I love seeing signs of spring on all of your blogs! Love those flowers!
Spring is in full bloom here in SC. Almost summer-like by now and it is glorious. Warm sunshine and colorful blooms keep God at the forefront of my mind. Like a great big, "Hello!" every day. So glad you are experiencing it, too!
she's still being a tad coy here ...
Spring in Lincoln seems to be coming in with the whipping winds through backyards with friends today for us! Had a GREAT time visiting and catching up today... I hope we can do it again soon! My "Bump" has not warmed up that fast to hop off my hip in a LONG time!! Seems all the treekids enjoyed themselves playing - and eating cookies! :)
Next time you come through town in your travel home, please call or email. We loved having you -- and it was so fun to catch up and talk about blogging! Bump is the cutest -- and all your kids are so sweet. The kids got along great, don't you think?
No surprises there, Ms. Minnesota!
I remember spring in Charleston when I was there many, many years ago -- it was stunning, and everything smelled so good!
Thank you, Laura...and I'm glad to see Disqus is working out better for you today :)
The boys are good for me, Diane -- they make me SEE.
And did you watch any of the royal festivities. I admit, I didn't get up at the crack...but I did tune in for "countdown to the kiss." The boys were groaning (including my husband)!
The Mighty Mo made me laugh!
We did, too -- Noah insisted I plant tulips. We did a memorial garden for Janice with like 50 bulbs...and they are ALL in bloom right now. So beautiful...everytime I see them I almost well up.
Happy weekend to you, too, Alita!
It was 70 here today, too, Jean -- but super windy! I went for a run (which ended up being a walk) and was nearly stopped in my tracks. Spring in NE always brings wind with it.
Thanx for the picture love! I do love me some spring. =)
What incredible photos! We've been in the San Francisco area on vacation the past couple weeks, and I'm amazed by all the flowers, flowering plants, flowering trees, COLOR:) I expect a lot more will have popped out at home when I return to Missouri. I just hope my Lilies of the Valley are still in their sweet smelling bloom.
Lilies of the Valley are the BEST for scent -- they make me swoon!
And thanks for stopping by!
thanks for sharing the colour!
"i suspect she was there all along." love this michelle.
And thank you, Nance, for sharing the post on facebook!
Yup...usually it takes my kids pointing out God's glory in nature for me to really see it.
I positively loved scrolling through these photos. I would frame them and put them up in my house in a heartbeat.
My children and I love driving along and identifying all the signs of spring. It makes us all happy!
Wow. Great pictures.
It took my being a "retired" adult to really appreciate it.
you are a woman after my own heart here...
